3 AR Quick Look Applications

Apple is rumoured to reveal AR glasses this year. iOS devices already support AR (augmented reality) technology on websites. This website is a real-world applications showcase.

AR syntax requires a link with rel="ar" attribute, ar-object link and a picture inside:

  1. Get .usdz, .obj, .gltf or .usd file.

  2. Download Apple Reality Converter from Apple website. Drop mask file and convert to .usdz - File → Export.

  3. Send file to iOS device with AirDrop for example.

  4. Open Apple Reality Composer and import the file.

    1. Start a new Project, choose Face and attach mask to face.

    2. Click share button to export file.

    3. This .usdz file can be sent via iMessage, mail and embedded in Web.

House Selling

  1. Find in App Store any app which using AR Home Kit. For example Polycam.

  2. Export it as a 2D plan with measures or .usdz 3D object.

Stegosaurus

While Brachiosaurus would’ve impressed you with its immense size, another Jurassic dinosaur would’ve impressed you with its huge bony plates. This dinosaur is known as Stegosaurus. It’s a dinosaur that is characterized by large spikes on its tail and huge bony plates along its entire back.

This dinosaur could be as long as 30 feet in length. It probably used the spikes on its tail as a defensive weapon against predators or territorial invaders. What those large plates on its back were for is still debated. Some believe they were also used for defensive purposes.

Others believe they were used as thermoregulators in that they might have had a lot of blood vessels and provided a large surface area from which body heat could escape into the cooler environment.
